The article discusses the differences between the suspension of the preliminary investigation due to the unknown location of the accused and the suspension on other grounds specified in the criminal procedure legislation. The experience of foreign countries is analyzed, existing problematic situations in investigative practice are identified, and justified proposals are developed to eliminate them.
