Abstract: This article provides a theoretical and conceptual analysis of medical tourism as an integral component of health tourism. The main aim of the study is to synthesize existing academic perspectives on medical tourism, clarify its conceptual content and boundaries, and substantiate its position within the broader health tourism framework. The research is theoretical in nature and applies content analysis and comparative analysis based on selected foreign monographs and relevant scholarly literature. The findings reveal that there is no single unified definition of medical tourism in international research; instead, multiple approaches coexist. The results also demonstrate the intersection between medical tourism and wellness tourism within the health tourism structure and explain medical tourists’ travel motivations through the push–pull framework. The article contributes to building a conceptual foundation for further research and for developing mechanisms to ensure the sustainable development of medical tourism in Uzbekistan.
