Ali Şir Nevâyî, Çağatay Türkçesinin en büyük temsilcisidir. Değişik alanlarda yazılmış otuza yakın eseri bulunmaktadır. Türkçenin söz ve mânâ zenginliğini ortaya koymaya çalıştığı eserlerinden biri olan Fevâyidü’l Kiber bu çalışmada kaynak eser olarak kullanılmıştır. Bir insanın yaşlılık devresini konu alan bu eserinde, “âkıbet / halas / rahm / temenna / vefa” redifli gazeller değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, bu kavramlar çerçevesinde beyitleri anlamlandırmak, gazellerin ele aldığı konuyu değerlendirmeye çalışmaktır. Akıbet redifli gazelde; sonunda, gam yükü ile canın yerle bir olduğu, gözyaşının gökyüzüne derdini yazmak için deniz, feleğin âhı ile gözyaşının yıldız gibi yere döküldüğünden bahsedilir. Halas redifli gazelde; cânın, ayrılıktan dünyayı bile kurtaramadığı, ölümden, dünya zorluklarından kurtuluşun olmadığı, başı dönmüş Mecnun’u akıl ehlinden kurtarmak gerektiği ifade edilir. Rahm redifli gazelde, kâfire merhamet edilmesine rağmen, soysuzları besleyen feleğe, gümüş bedenli serviye merhamet edilmediği belirtilir. Temennâ redifli gazelde, kavuşma isteğinde minnettarlık olduğu, hayal ve kuruntuların yabancısına selamın olmadığı belirtilir. Vefa redifli gazelde, dünya ehlinde, bu dünyada vefa olmadığı, insanın vefâyı aradığında değil, başkasında bulduğu anlatılır.
