The article examines the universal and national -specific features of English and Russian proverbs, focusing on their linguistic, cultural, and moral significance. The study aims to identify similarities and differences between proverbs of compared languages and to determine how cultural identity influences their meaning, imagery, and usage. The comparative analysis demonstrates that proverbs in both languages express common human values, including honesty, kindness, diligence, politeness, education, and respect for family and society. Particular attention is paid to proverbs expressing the concept of homeland. In Russian, the concept of homeland is frequently associated with national identity, native land, and emotional attachment to one’s birthplace. In English proverbs, this concept is often expressed through the word home, which emphasizes family, comfort, belonging, and emotional security. The findings indicate that English and Russian proverbs combine universal moral principles with national-cultural features. Their comparative study contributes to a deeper understanding of linguistic worldviews, intercultural communication, and the relationship between language, culture, and national mentality.
