This study assesses the scale, composition, and institutional maturity of green-economy financing in Uzbekistan and identifies its principal constraints and development prospects. It applies an embedded single-country case-study design combining quantitative descriptive analysis of official financial data for 2016–2023 with qualitative analysis of policy and institutional developments through December 2025. The findings indicate annual decarbonisation and adaptation financing needs of approximately USD 20,74–23,41 billion, compared with USD 8,00 billion of fixed investment in priority transition sectors in 2023. This comparison produces a conservative annual financing gap of USD 12,74–15,41 billion. The study concludes that Uzbekistan’s prospects depend on integrating green-finance classification and reporting, strengthening domestic financial intermediation, using public capital to mobilise rather than replace private investment, and expanding bankable projects in both adaptation and mitigation.
