This article examines the economic essence and theoretical foundations of investment efficiency. A comparative analysis is conducted of the approaches developed by classical, neoclassical, Keynesian, modern financial, and institutional schools of economic thought, as well as scholars from CIS countries and Uzbekistan. The criteria and indicators used to assess investment efficiency are systematized, and investment efficiency is conceptualized as a multidimensional economic category operating at the micro, meso, and macro levels. The study emphasizes the need for an integrated assessment approach incorporating financial, economic, technological, and institutional factors
