Despite the high effectiveness of bariatric surgery in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus, the mechanisms for achieving stable remission of the disease remain insufficiently studied. Alongside clinical and metabolic indicators, increasing attention is being paid to morphometric changes in the small intestine that occur after surgery and potentially influence the improvement of carbohydrate metabolism. Identifying factors associated with remission of type 2 diabetes mellitus is important for predicting treatment outcomes, optimizing surgical tactics, and developing a personalized approach to patient management.
