The formulation of the problem of optimal control of gas-burning furnace operation in the glass industry is carried out. The main stages of solving this problem, starting from mathematical modeling of the investigated process and ending with the task of optimizing the furnace thermal regime, are considered. The model describes the evolution of temperature fields of fuel combustion, combustion rate, gas movement and emission concentration changes depending on control actions. Model-based control predicts the behavior of the system for the prediction horizon and selects optimal control actions on the object.
