Relevance. Loss of central vision due to diabetic macular edema (DME) is the most common cause of visual impairment in people with diabetes. Purpose of the study. Assess the effectiveness of treatment and prevention of the progression of DME of the moderate stage. Material and methods. There were 153 patients with diabetes mellitus complicated by diabetic macular edema with slight central and paracentral edema (n=232 eyes). The treatment was carried out using the "Retinal sleep lamp" (lamp for the treatment of the retina during sleep — RSL) in 66 patients (n=90 eyes). Used RSL at night while sleeping to prevent dark adaptation for 6 months. And the rest 87 (n=142 eyes) patients received treatment in the form of eye drops. Results and conclusion. After treatment with RSL, there was an improvement in corrected visual acuity by an average of 0.27; OCT edema height in patients with compensated glycemia decreased by 79 microns in the central and 55 microns in the paracentral retinal zones.
