In 1920, the Central Asian State University was established in Tashkent, in which a medical faculty was opened, later transformed into an independent Tashkent Medical Institute. Departments of ophthalmology were created at TashMI, TIPME, SamMI, AndMI, TashPMI, BukhMI, TMA and other institutions. RKOB, RSSPMCEM were opened. Ophthalmologists of the Republic of Uzbekistan carry out scientific and practical activities on the main problems: myopia, vascular diseases of the eye, glaucoma, injuries of the organ of vision, diseases of the optical environment of the eye, and others.
