Relevance: It is known that light is a transverse wave. But what? What is their nature? To answer this question,we need to analyze what we know about light. In some cases, light and other electromagnetic radiations behave as if theywere made up of small beams (quanta) of energy. These bundles of energy are called photons. Describing the electromagneticnature, we recall that it has the properties of electromagnetic waves, interferes, diffracts, polarizes, reflects and refracts at theboundary of two media. Wave properties explain all the phenomena associated with the propagation of light through substancesin a volume, and the quantum nature of light must be studied in order to understand the effect of light on photoreceptors inthe retina. Purpose of the study. To master the method of determining the length of a light wave using a diffraction grating, tobe convinced of the wave nature of light. Materials and methods. To study and determine the wavelength of light, a diffractiongrating, a light source (an electric lamp, a bench, a device for determining the length of a light wave) are needed). Results andconclusion. The result of the work is counted if the value of the wavelength obtained in the experiment is within the followinglimits: violet — 450–380 nm; red — 760–620 nm; green — 550–510 nm. When studying the behavior of light waves, we concludethat light propagates in a straight line.
