The article discusses the key factors determining the development of the food industry in the Samarkand region as a strategically important sector of the regional economy. Based on a comprehensive analysis of socio-economic conditions, natural resource potential, and the institutional environment, theoretical approaches to understanding the role of the food industry in the structure of the regional economic complex are systematized. It is shown that the sustainable development of the industry is determined by a combination of investment activity, the introduction of innovative technologies, the formation of qualified human resources, and the improvement of infrastructure capabilities. Particular attention is paid to identifying the relationship between agricultural production and the processing sector, as well as assessing the impact of regional policy and public-private partnership mechanisms on the competitiveness of enterprises. The study identified priority areas for modernizing the food industry in the Samarkand region, including increasing investment attractiveness, digitizing production processes, and developing logistics infrastructure and export potential. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of using the conclusions and recommendations obtained in the development of regional socio-economic development strategies, as well as in the formation of sectoral programs to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the food industry.
