Annotatsiya

Numerous studies have shown that cardiovascular diseases, including arterial hypertension, are accompanied by folate deficiency (FOD), leading to the development of hyperhomocysteinemia. Total plasma homocysteine levels are an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, arterial hypertension, and thrombotic complications. The study was conducted among 25 patients with hypertension (HT). Folic acid, homocysteine, vitamin B12, and hemoglobin levels were compared with those of a control group. Hyperhomocysteinemia was found in 64.70% of patients with hypertension, with homocysteine levels in the study group being almost twice as high as in the control group (p < 0.01). Among patients with hypertension, folate deficiency was found in 64.70%, vitamin B12 deficiency in 11.76%, and mild anemia in 70.59%.
