The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the role of institutional mechanisms in the formation of a sustainabledevelopment strategy for regions and their impact on regional entrepreneurial activity and economic stability. As aresult of institutional reforms aimed at improving the business environment in Uzbekistan, reducing bureaucratic barriersand optimizing management processes, the dynamics of economic activity, the number of business entities and the shareof small businesses in GDP were studied across regions. The study found that regional differences, uneven developmentof infrastructure and the institutional environment justify the need to form sustainable development strategies based ona differentiated approach. Also, priority areas of sustainable development were systematized across economic regions,taking into account specialization, development factors and limiting factors. As a result, it was scientifically substantiatedthat improving institutional management is an important factor in increasing regional competitiveness, strengtheninginvestment attractiveness and ensuring long-term sustainable growth of the national economy
