Annotatsiya

Liver diseases (such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver failure) exert significant systemic effects on the entire body, including oral health. This article focuses on exploring the clinical manifestations of liver dysfunction within the oral cavity. Studies indicate that patients with liver diseases frequently exhibit foetor hepaticus, jaundice, bleeding tendencies (due to coagulopathy), severe forms of chronic periodontitis, oral mucosal lesions, and salivary gland dysfunction (xerostomia). These alterations stem from the disruption of the liver's metabolic, immunological, and hemostatic functions. Oral changes can serve as an important diagnostic marker for assessing the severity of underlying liver disease.
