This article sets out the theoretical foundations of the complex of physical exercises used in tourism, their types, purpose and practical significance. The work analyses the role and the necessity of physical exercises in such active forms of tourism as hiking, mountain walking and cycle tourism. A sample programme is also presented, drawn up on the basis of the structure and stages of a set of exercises aimed at raising the level of physical fitness and conditioning the muscles and the cardiovascular system, and on the basis of hygienic requirements.
