Annotatsiya

A novel oligomer-type corrosion inhibitor (PFAQ) was synthesized from p- phenylenediamine, formalin, and alpha amino succinate under an inert nitrogen atmosphere. Optimization of the synthesis conditions revealed that the highest yield (≈86–88%) was obtained at a molar ratio of 1:2:2 and a temperature range of 40–65 °C, while higher temperatures significantly reduced the yield. The structure of the synthesized inhibitor was confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy, which exhibited characteristic absorption bands of –NH, – CH, –CH₂, and C=O groups, indicating successful polymer formation. The inhibition performance of PFAQ was investigated using electrochemical polarization techniques in various corrosive media. Tafel polarization studies in 1 M HCl + 200 mg/L NaCl solution demonstrated that the corrosion current density (i_corr) decreased markedly with increasing inhibitor concentration, reaching 0.781 mA/cm² at 150 mg/L compared to 12.42 mA/cm² in the blank solution, with inhibition efficiency (ηPDP) increasing from 81.09% to 93.89%. Similar behavior was observed in 1 M NaOH + 1 M NaCl, where i_corr decreased from 71.25 mA/cm² in the absence of inhibitor to 1.61 mA/cm² at 100 mg/L, corresponding to η_PDP of 97.82%. The potential difference between corroded and inhibited solutions remained below 85 mV across all concentrations, indicating that PFAQ functions as a mixed- type inhibitor. Significant changes in both anodic and cathodic Tafel slopes suggest that the inhibitor adsorbs on the metal surface and forms a protective film, effectively reducing both anodic dissolution and cathodic reduction reactions. Overall, the experimental results indicate that PFAQ is a highly efficient inhibitor for steel protection in aggressive acidic and alkaline environments.
