Annotatsiya

This study compares the effectiveness of the modular credit system (MCS) and the traditional learning system in medical education, focusing on academic performance, professional competency development, and student satisfaction among first- to third-year students. Methods. A comparative analytical study was conducted in a medical university, involving 560 students divided into two groups: MCS students (current modular system) and a traditional group (retrospective data from students trained under the conventional system). Results. The study assessed academic performance using a 100-point grading scale and analyzed differences through a student’s t-test. Professional competencies were measured using Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) and faculty evaluations, with statistical analysis conducted through ANOVA. Student satisfaction was examined via an anonymous Likert-scale survey, with results analyzed using the Chi-square test. The findings indicate that academic performance was significantly higher in the MCS group (p<0.05). Students in this group also demonstrated superior professional competencies, with notable improvements in practical skills (+12.5%), diagnostic abilities (+10.8%), and clinical reasoning (+10.3%). Furthermore, student satisfaction was significantly greater among MCS students, particularly regarding practical orientation (+14%), course organization (+13%), and grading transparency (+11%) (p<0.05). Conclusion. The modular credit system provides a more effective framework for medical education, leading to higher academic success, better professional skill development, and increased student satisfaction compared to the traditional learning model.
