Disturbances of the 24-HOUR blood pressure profile in patients with chronic kidney disease depending on renal function status

This article presents the results of a study focused on the analysis of the 24-hour blood pressure profile in patients with chronic kidney disease. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring parameters were assessed in relation to the level of glomerular filtration rate. It was found that a decline in renal function is associated with disturbances of the circadian blood pressure rhythm, increased blood pressure load, and a reduced degree of nocturnal blood pressure decline. Pathological patterns of the 24-hour blood pressure profile were significantly more frequent in patients with more pronounced impairment of renal function. The obtained data emphasize the clinical significance of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring for the early identification of patients at high cardiovascular risk.
