Annotatsiya

Idioms constitute one of the most culturally significant components of language, reflecting the historical, cognitive, and social experiences of a speech community. The present study investigates the translation and cultural features of English and Uzbek idioms from cognitive, cultural, and translational perspectives. The research employs comparative, descriptive, cognitive, and translation analyses to examine 200 idiomatic expressions collected from English and Uzbek phraseological dictionaries and literary sources. The findings reveal both universal conceptual patterns and culture-specific elements embedded in idiomatic expressions. The study demonstrates that effective translation of idioms requires not only linguistic equivalence but also cultural and cognitive correspondence. The results contribute to translation studies, cognitive linguistics, and intercultural communication.
