BACKGROUND STUDYING OF FLORA AND FAUNA SYMBOLS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LITERARY FIELDS

Annotatsiya

In this scientific article written about flora and fauna symbols of English and Uzbek mythology for the first time, they have been systematically classified and comparatively analyzed on the basis of integrated linguacultural and cognitive-conceptual approaches; the lexical-semantic, etymological and metaphorical mechanisms of mythological symbolization in two genealogically distant languages have been revealed; the universal (cross-cultural) and distinctive (ethnospecific) characteristics of flora and fauna symbols in the mythological worldviews of the English and Uzbek peoples have been determined; specific recommendations have been proposed for the adequate translation of mythological symbols, including cases of zero equivalence and partial cultural correspondence; a working classification of flora and fauna symbols according to their mythological functions (sacred, totemic, apotropaic, eschatological, etc.) has been developed and applied to the comparative material of the two languages.
