Annotatsiya

This article examines national and cultural realia as one of the most challenging aspects of translation. Realia are words and expressions that reflect unique features of a particular culture, including its traditions, social life, and worldview, and they usually do not have direct equivalents in other languages. The paper analyzes the main difficulties that arise when translating such units and discusses common translation strategies such as transcription, calque, and descriptive translation. Special attention is given to examples from Uzbek culture and literature, which illustrate how cultural meaning can be preserved or partially lost in translation. The study concludes that effective translation of realia requires not only linguistic competence but also a deep understanding of cultural context.
