This article presents comparative results of clinical and pathomorphological studies of acute strokes. 100 lethal cases of cerebral infarction were analyzed. The following sections of the brain were taken from autopsy; cortex of the frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobes, anterior, middle and posterior hypothalamus, corpus callosum, brain stem. Differences in the main causes of cerebral infarctions in the carotid and vertebrobasilar basins were determined. The possibility of a discrepancy between the clinical and pathomorphological diagnosis of CES was revealed.
