This article examines the problem of population migration to Southern Khorezm based on ancient written sources, archaeological investigations, and modern historiographical approaches. The study employs a comparative analysis of the works of classical authors, Achaemenid inscriptions, information provided by Abu Rayhan Beruni, and examples of oral folk traditions. Furthermore, archaeological materials from the sites of Amirobod, Quyi-Soy, Meshekli, Uchochoq, Khumbuztepa, and Khazarasp are used to demonstrate that the economic and cultural transformations that occurred in Southern Khorezm during the 7th–6th centuries BCE were closely associated with migration processes. The findings indicate that groups of people who migrated from southern regions and possessed developed agricultural and craft traditions played a significant role in the formation of urbanization in Southern Khorezm.
