Despite significant breakthroughs in obstetric science and practice in the second half of the 20th century and the early 21st century, the introduction of innovative techniques, and the rapid development of the pharmacological industry, the problem of obstetric haemorrhage remains one of the most pressing problems in obstetrics. Of the 550-600 thousand maternal deaths, approximately 200000 die from obstetric haemorrhage . Bleeding ranks among the 'big five' causes of maternal death and of the 125 000 women who die as a result of major obstetric haemorrhage, almost half die from uterine hypotension. The main causes of hypo and atonic bleeding can be inadequate retraction of the myometrium and thrombosis in the vessels of the placental site, which has 150 to 200 spiral arteries.
