In this article, the author discusses the essence of legal aid, as well as its key elements guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The analysis of the very term of legal assistance and qualified legal assistance is carried out with the opinions of various legal scholars, the essence of this concept from the point of view of domestic legislation is revealed, and the author's definition of this term is presented and the necessity of its introduction into national legislation is substantiated.
