Relevance. The effect of a healthy lifestyle on modifiable risk factors of atherosclerosis has the best results. However, it is not always sufficient, then it is necessary to use anti-atherosclerotic drugs, preferably from herbal raw materials. ladyginozid, being a herbal preparation, has an antiatherosclerotic property, causing an increase in morphofunctional activity of the thyroid gland. Aim: to study the effect of ladyginoside on the morphofunctional state of the thyroid gland. Materials and methods. The experimental design included experiments on 38 rabbits, divided into an experimental group of 28, in which animals received ladyginozid at a dose of 10 mg/kg weight for 30, 60 and 90 days. 10 constituted the control group. The status of the thyroid gland was studied by morphometric measurement of thyrocyte nuclei and karyograms. Statistical processing of the data was carried out using analysis of variance with calculation and subsequent analysis of the strength of the influence of the ladyginozid factor on the functional morphology of the thyroid gland. Results. The descriptive data of the study indicate that the karyogram of the experimental group of animals, as compared with that of the control, was markedly shifted to the right and acquired a two-tailed shape by increasing the number of large nuclei from 116.65 to 163.02 μm3. Moda shifted from class to class with volume ranging from 51.97 to 72.63 µm3. Nuclei appeared as early as 30 days of the experiment, which were not found in the control group. Conclusions. The results of the investigation, taking into account modern morphometric methods of the thyroid gland, morphofunctional state estimation, show that ladyginozid at the 30 and 60 days of the experiment increases the gland activity, that by the end of the experiment at 90 days approaches to the control animal values, at the same time high values of the follicular epithelium cells nuclear volume testify to persistence of the organ morphofunctional activity increased.
