The article examines the conceptual foundations of social protection of the needy strata of the population in Uzbekistan. At the same time, the institutionalization of the state system of social protection is analyzed in the context of the countries of the West and the East. The socio-cultural values, institutional reforms that served as the basis for the formation of the social protection system in Uzbekistan, their regulatory and legal framework, enshrined in legislation, have been studied. Shown are effective mechanisms for improving the social protection system and ways of solving problems in this area.
