The article provides a scientific and theoretical analysis of the stages of development of the institution of the bar in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 1990–1996, ensuring the organizational and legal foundations of the institution of the bar, the legal status of bar associations, advocacy, taxes and other obligatory fees of lawyers, the activities of bar associations, the relationship of the bar with authorities justice and other government agencies. Also analyzed are trends in the evolutionary transition of the institution of advocacy from a state body to a self-regulatory organization.
