Sufi teachings have had a significant impact on the religious life of Muslims of Central Asia and the Volga-Ural region since ancient times. The intellectual exchange between the theologians of Transoxiana and their northern brethren began during the Bulgarian period and continued in the relations between the regions during and after the fall of the Kazan Khanate. He strengthened the intellectual achievements of theologians with his spiritual practices, promoting the ideas of equality and brotherhood.
