The article is devoted to the analysis of the contribution of early 20th-century Russian Orientalists to the study of the spiritual culture of the Pamir and Pripamirye population. The research of A.A.Bobrinsky, A.A.Semenov, and A.E.Snesarev analyzes the adherence of the Pamir population to Ismailism, their way of life and customs, as well as the key role of pirs as spiritual and civil leaders.
