The article is devoted to the study of the conceptual apparatus of "international organization". Various points of view on the definition of an international organization and forms of organization are analyzed. A different approach to the definition of this terminology in international documents is considered: the Vienna Conventions "On the Law of Treaties" (1969), "On the Representation of States in International Organizations of a Universal Character" (1975), "On the Law of Treaties between States and International Organizations or International Organizations" (1986), in the provisions of which the term "international organization" was used in the meaning of "interstate organization", as well as in the §14 of the Commentary of the International Law Commission on Article 2 of the Draft Convention on the Law of Treaties. Individual elements of the term under consideration are analyzed. The results of this work can be used in conducting various studies on different forms of interstate cooperation.
