Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a very common heart rhythm disorder, which represents a pressing problem in modern arrhythmology. The incidence of AF has increased by 13% over the past 20 years. AF is associated with a high incidence of adverse outcomes, the main ones being thromboembolic complications, the onset of chronic heart failure and other adverse outcomes. Currently, the cause of the formation of blood clots, with the support of anticoagulants, in the cavities of the heart is not reliably known.
