The article covers issues of the historical development of bilateral investment treaties, an attempt is made to analyze their essence and assess their role in the development of foreign economic relations. Bilateral investment treaties are one of the effective mechanisms for regulating investment relations between contracting states. The study of the legal nature of these treaties, identifying their advantages and disadvantages in the conditions of the actively developing economy of our country is of particular importance and is relevant. For these purposes, the article reviewed the current bilateral investment treaties of the Republic of Uzbekistan, analyzed their legal nature, and carried out a comparative analysis of the TREATIES in terms of content. Based on the results of studying the issue, conclusions were drawn up and presented on the need to update existing treaties by introducing amendments to them or terminating the validity of concluded agreements and adopting new ones instead.
