The article considered the difference between family relations and civil legal relations, and analyzed the mechanisms of family relations regulation. The author studied the practice of drawing up a family legal contract and identified problems related to the development of a family legal contract as an independent institution in family law. Types of family legal contracts were studied in the family law of foreign countries. The family legal contract was defined, its different aspects from the civil legal contract were considered.
