The article examines the negative consequences of the consumption of narcotic drugs on the human body, the importance of the examination process in their determination, and the specific features of examining substances suspected of being narcotic drugs from the physical evidence submitted to the examination by the methods available in the Central customs laboratory. The issues of accreditation of the branch of forensic examination of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances conducted by the Central Customs Laboratory in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2019 standard were reviewed.
