The article is devoted to the comparison analysis of the problem-based learning well-known in the Russian educational practice and phenomenon-based approach commonly used in European education. The research showed phenomenon-based learning is not a teaching method but a type of STEAM education which all the elements (curriculum, content, types of lessons, assessment and evaluation) develop a student’s ability to learn and their learning autonomy. By integrating technology, PBL offers unique opportunities to enhance learning as well teaching by providing dynamic auditory experiences and tailored feedback.
