This article is devoted to studying the processes of learning English among sports coaches in Uzbekistan, the importance of English in their professional activities, and the relevance of knowledge of a foreign language in the context of global communication. As part of the study, a survey was conducted with the participation of 120 coaches of various sports, to determine their level of English proficiency, learning motivation, and professional needs. In-depth interviews were also conducted with 15 coaches working internationally. The results showed that it is important for sports coaches to maintain a balance between local needs (e.g., participation in international competitions and training) and global opportunities (learning world experience, working with foreign athletes) when learning English. As a result of the study, recommendations were developed for improving the specific English language curricula and methodology focused on the sports sector.
