This article analyzes the lexical-semantic structural features of the units that make up the realis/irrealis category. When it is found that there are extremely large differences in the composition of the realis/irrealis phenomenon, it is proposed to linguistically recognize the main prototypical meaning of these categories. In our opinion, the typological approach in the case of unrelated languages shows the need to distinguish the grammatical, lexical, semantic tools that make up realis/irrealis categories.
