Annotatsiya

This article considers the first published novel of contemporary American satirist Christopher Taylor Buckley. The novel The White House Mess is of value for research as it reflects a satire both on the genre of political memoirs and on the very atmosphere inside the White House. The purpose of this article is to investigate the main components of a political satirical novel, in particular, satirical representation of heroes. Characters in this novel serve as the basis for comic situations, and well- known US political figures add realism. This, at first glance, simple combination testifies to the writer's skill in depicting truthful political satire on the pages of the novel.
