The article presents the analysis and results of our own sociological research on the implementation of demonstrative consumption in the era of social networks. The object of the study was Kazakh and Uzbek student youth. A direct relationship between conspicuous consumption and the use of social networks by young Kazakhs and Uzbeks has been revealed. The research materials allow us to consider the main stimuli and stimuli of Internet reality and the reaction of young people to them. The global trend of increasing involvement in social networks, which is reflected in the behavior of young people, is shown. Based on the results of the conducted research, promising directions for the formation of a culture of reasonable consumption among young people have been identified.
