Objective: To study the data confirmed by scientific research in order to improve the effectiveness of early diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract and middle ear. Methods: Study, analysis and systematization of scientific literature. Results: Pathology of the auditory tubes can be caused by inflammatory processes, vasomotor changes in the nasal mucosa, benign and malignant neoplasms, congenital anomalies, foreign bodies, injuries. One of the main factors of impaired function of the auditory tubes are diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses, while mucopurulent discharge from the nasal cavity through the atrial epithelium can enter the mouth of the auditory tubes. Conclusions. In order to improve the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract and middle ear, it requires a deeper study of the causes of dysfunction of the auditory tubes, the development of criteria for the effect of nasal obstruction on the functional state of the auditory tubes, an objective assessment of the relationship between the pathology of the nose and the auditory tubes.
