Objective: To substantiate the approaches of pharmacotherapy concerning the fight against the formation of fatigue, overtraining and sports stress. Methods: The study materials are the results of searches conducted in the databases of PubMed, ISI Web of Science, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library. Results: The term "anxiety" is used in sports to describe an emotional state that is unpleasant in color, characterized by subjective feelings of tension, excitement, foreboding, and from a physiological point of view, activation of the autonomic nervous system. Anxiety occurs when an athlete perceives a certain stimulus or situation as carrying an actual or potential threat, danger, or harm. Plant components with sedative and vegetostabilizing effects are intended to relieve excessive psycho-emotional stress in athletes after training, normalize sleep, stabilize autonomic reactions to stressful physical activity, prevent sports-related jumps in blood pressure or the occurrence of episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. Conclusions. Among the features presented in this brief review, the need for a combination of sedative and vegetative actions, the specifics of sports practice and the planned methods of using plant extract for practically healthy athletes is the correct and competent selection of a training program and mandatory determination of the training goal.
