The article examines urban infrastructure as a scientific category. The structural structure and types of urban infrastructure are described. The functional significance of social infrastructure in improving the quality of daily life of city residents has been revealed. In the conditions of modern Uzbekistan, the problem of managing the social infrastructure of cities and the mechanisms of its development are studied through sociological research. In the development of a country, the social condition of cities and the efficiency of existing infrastructure are important, since the development or lag in the development of cities directly affects the development of the country. Small towns act as a bridge connecting the countryside and the big city. From this point of view, the problem raised in this article becomes relevant. In almost all countries of the world, the large number of small towns compared to cities or towns and the similarity of problems existing in them require the study of this topic through empirical sociological research and in-depth scientific analysis.
