The conducted scientific research shows that the unemployment rate in small cities in our country is higher than in rural areas. The development of small cities is especially difficult due to the level of provision of housing, social infrastructure, production, services and management problems. This article examines the factors of the development of the social infrastructure of small towns, as well as the history of its study. At the same time, an attempt was made to highlight the social significance of the issues of effective integration and sustainable development of small towns into the ecological structure, cultural life, aesthetic, historical, scientific, social or spiritual values left to the discretion of past, present and future generations in the management of their social infrastructure. This article examines the literature and theoretical views on this problem, as well as an analysis from a sociological point of view.
