The article discusses the features of the social protection system for the elderly in the UK, its regulatory framework, pensions for the elderly, and the role of social workers in the system of social support for the elderly. The focus here is devoted to the social protection system, the types of social protection provided to older people in the UK, pension and retirement procedures, concessions and their types, as well as the types of services provided by social workers to the disabled and the elderly. In addition, based on the available statistics, the demographic composition of the UK population, average life expectancy, the share of the elderly in the total population, as well as the demographic pressure coefficient and the recession coefficient were disclosed.
