Тhe article presents a sociological analysis of students as a specific social group directly in the system of higher education, forms and methods of Patriotic education and the main directions of Patriotic education of Russian students in the period of higher education. Patriotic education of students, according to the authors, is not a one-time event, but a multifaceted, systematic, purposeful and coordinated activity in educational institutions. It is important to maintain a high level of spiritual and moral culture, which students should either form or support in order to prevent extremism, for which a set of measures is developed in the educational institution, while everything in education should be based on the personality of the teacher.
