This article analyzes the use of historical anthroponyms and nicknames in Uzbek folk tales, focusing on their semantic features and artistic-functional significance. Through these names and nicknames, the characters’ social origins, status, and personalities are revealed, while their dramatic and aesthetic functions within the narrative are explored. The article also examines how the names of certain historical figures have been mythologized or idealized through oral folk creativity. The naming culture present in folk tales reflects the historical memory, values, and aesthetic outlook of the people.
