The article discusses the creation of a broad competitive environment for the training of future teachers in universities, the introduction of innovative areas of additional qualifications in higher education, the improvement of the training of future chemistry teachers in the process of chemical education, the methodological foundations of the professional training of future chemists, scientific views on the content, components of professional activity, basic training paradigms. On a scientific basis, the levels of professional development based on the model of professional activity are highlighted.
