The article is about features of teaching foreign languages ​​in primary schools. In accordance with this, the main functions of a foreign language as a school subject are to develop as a general speech ability of a student in his most elementary philological education, as well as in the formation of his abilities and readiness to use a foreign language as a means of communication, as a way of familiarizing with another national culture. and thus as an effective means of education, nurturing and diversifying the personality of the student. All these functions of the school subject are to one degree or another realized from the very first steps of instruction, including in elementary school. Depending on the duration of the course, the frequency of classes, the qualifications of the teacher, the material equipment of the school and other learning conditions, the level of training in the subject achieved at the end of primary school, as well as the level of education, training and development of foreign language means can be different. Consequently, English speech etiquette is of great practical importance and for this reason deserves special and careful study and continuous improvement in it in further education.
